Some games are played in the evening during weekdays and a few games are held Saturdays as well. Game fees range anywhere from $53-$75 per game.

Training: CMSO conducts training for new soccer referees under the National Federation rules. The next regular Entry Level Training course is listed below. Candidates may communicate with the contact person, Fran Giuliano, before the first session to let them know who is coming and to find out about any last minute changes. There is a fee of $75 for the course and if you complete the course the dues for the 2009 season are $62.

When & Where: CMSO is offering this course on June 2, 4, 9, and 11, 2009 at Wachusett Regional High School.  The course is from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. The room number will be posted at the front entrance of the school on the date of the course.

All new referees are assigned field work in preseason scrimmages/ jamborees(usually late August/early September) under the guidance of veteran referees from the board. This has proven to be a great experience for new officials.

CMSO Policy for Referee Uniform Shirts Effective Fall 2007

The primary shirt is the classic solid black with white cuffs and collar.  The official alternate shirt is the yellow shirt with black pinstripes. It is preferred, but not mandatory, that the shirt does not have the USSF logo.

The yellow shirt is mandatory for all evening contests beginning at 5 p.m. or later.

At any game, the referees will both wear the same color and sleeve length shirt, and the shirt worn must not conflict with the colors of either team. If there is a shirt color conflict with either team, the referees will change to an alternate shirt color.

In all Central Massachusetts high school games which are served by our board members the referees must wear their CMSO patch and no other patch.
